Lexicon - Help

Hi There

Been searching for some time however coming up with dead ends and running out of hair.... been pulling it all out....

I have tried to find out how to build a lexicon file for my computer - however I am having difficulty with it

I have tried to click on http://cepstral.com/cgi-bin/support?page=userlex however it is a dead link ....

Anyone out there have any old information or lexicon files they are willing to share - to help with some ideas on the correct ways to format the pronunciation of some tricky words out there - especially towns.

Hi there,

I think the link you're looking for is here: http://www.cepstral.com/support/faq/cus ... s_eng.html

There is a lexicon.txt file that you would need to edit in order to add new pronunciations. The location varies depending on your OS--you can find your location by looking at the top of the link above.

Formatting for lexicon entries is also discussed on that link. The different phonemes are listed on the bottom. Vowels need to be followed by a 1(to indicate stress) or 0. Basically, an entry needs to look like the following two examples:
orange 0 ao1 r ih0 n jh
peel 0 p i1 l

Does Cepstral voices support a secondary stress and if they do would the secondary stress be indicated by the number 2?

Hi Percy,

Unfortunately, Cepstral voices do not support secondary stress at this time. If you want to indicate multiple stressed syllables within the same word, the best option would probably be to use more than one primary stress.
