Optimal bit and sample rate

Postby Shaggyman » Thu Jan 25, 2007 1:47 pm

I use TextAloud to record audiobooks. Most other companies tell you that their voice is 16 khz or 22 khz but I do not see the bit rate for the Cepstral voices. TextAloud advises that the best recordings are made by using the native bit and sample rate of the voice, and usually mono.

What is the native bit and sample rate of, say, the Cepstral Lawrence voice, and is that the best rate for optimal clarity?

To see information regarding all installed voices, try opening a command line window (terminal window on Mac...or DOS Prompt on Windows machines) and type the following command: "swift --voices" or to see the engine version, try "swift -V"

As of this posting, all the Cepstral voices are natively 16bit and 16kHz except Callie, who is released at 22kHz.

Thanks.
